Grandville's flood-plain trees need watching
Grandville grew up along the Grand River and Buck Creek, and its trees show it: fast-growing cottonwoods and willows on the river flats, big silver maples through the older neighborhoods off Wilson and Chicago Drive, and spruce windbreaks on the higher ground toward Rivertown Crossings.
River-bottom species grow fast and fail fast — cottonwoods in particular drop enormous limbs with little warning once they pass maturity. If you've got one leaning over the house or shedding deadwood, a free inspection tells you whether it's a removal, a cleanout prune, or simply fine for now.
